遇氢氧化钠成浅紫色，在硫酸中为棕色溶液。溶于乙醇和水。最大吸收波长518nm。有刺激性。文献上也有指本品为中性红(Neutral red)的。Colour Index Number 60760 水中溶解度:1 g/l (25°C)
