Methyl-6-O-(n-heptylcarboxyl)-a-D-glucopyranoside is a very mild surfactant, useful for membrane protein studies. It is a non-ionic detergent useful for solubilization of membrane-bound proteins in their native state. Easily removed by dialysis.
