    Description
    The AE1 (anion exchanger, band 3) protein is expressed in erythrocytes and in the A-type intercalated cells of the kidney distal collecting tubule. In both cell types it mediates the electroneutral transport of chloride and bicarbonate ions across the lipid bilayer, and, in erythrocytes (1). AE1 is phosphorylated on Tyr8and Tyr21 by SYK. It has been suggested that, upon phosphorylation by p72syk, Tyr8, and Tyr21 act as docking sites for the SH2 domain of Lyn, which subsequently phosphorylates AE1 at additional secondary sites (2).

    Specificity
    A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human AE1 was used as an immunogen.

    Storage Condition and Buffer
    Store at -20 °C. Buffer: 50 mM Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 0.15 M NaCl, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 0.05% BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
